Mr. Righi's nightmare began in 2007 when he decided to visit Cadiz with his partner, Jo Fiori, and their three dogs, Holly, Vito and Maggie. The couple sought a residence in which to house the dogs for four days. Advised by a police officer opted for staying at the private residence of Puerto Real for a fee. After four days, the couple returned to pick up their dogs, but they were gone. Holly, Vito and Maggie had been killed along with other dogs.
Within twenty days of the incident, on 7 October 2007, organized a demonstration in Cadiz condemned the cruel murder of thousands of animals illegally and cruel at the Puerto Real dog pound, where Simone and Jo had lost loved ones. About 2,000 people, among which was the couple, attended the event. Coinciding with the concentration animals celebrating the day of the patron saint of Cadiz. As part of the celebration, members of the Municipal Board and the Mayor attended a Mass celebrated in the convent of Santo Domingo, near the site of the demonstration. After the ceremony, the mayor and members of the Corporation came under police escort. Some of the protestors, including Simone and Jo came to the first mayor to express his outrage at the killing of their dogs. No one could foresee what happened seconds after Simone was restrained by police, beaten and abused as a dangerous criminal . The victim spent three days in jail, held incommunicado (is not the case with murderers confessed), and two months in prison trial on charges of "attempted assault, resisting public officials and public disorder."
has left his sentence, four and half years in prison (the prosecutor called 10) by undermining of the authority. A disproportionate part of the sentence, the court has not even taken into account the testimony of Teófila Martinez during the trial, when he was unable to clarify whether or not he saw who tried to attack, and tests like this video that is the disproportionate police action of the slag, which trample and beat Simone and Jo in a time when they were doing nothing to bring out the side to which tips the balance of justice in this system:
